I've never actually gone through and done one of these before.

Month 1 +2
So a couple months ago I picked up a coupe for a incredible price, the motor had just had a head gasket with a new head. Sadly the previous owner was rushing and didn't put the motor in mechanical time and didn't put gaskets on the intake side.

Image

here is a video of the lack of gaskets

My fiance had wanted to learn how to pull a motor so we decided to pull the sohc to start on the egr delete as well as clean the bay up to prepare for the motor to go back in.

Image

Couple days after we pulled the motor I decided to put both my s13 and s14 up for sale and start from ground zero. Odly enough life had its own plan. The buyer of my s13 couldn't arrange to make it out here and my s14 sold for exactly what it was listed for, and that day my buddy Justin told me a bout a rb swap that someone was selling.

At 7pm last night I made a beeline towards Saint Louis to go pick up my swap, which I got a awesome deal on which gets me to the present,

Idk how good of a first post that was but meh.

Gratz on the swap. I almost bought your coupe, I just don't have the room for it.

Goodluck with the build!

Update 5/27/2013
I finally had a couple hours to do some work on the car. Although what I got accomplished was not a lot it moves me one step closer to dropping in the RB20DET on Friday.

-Removed complete AC assembly (Luckily for me the AC gasses where already out of the system, most likely from the previous owner)
-Remove upper and lower engine harness
-Removed charcoal canister
-Removed old engine mounts

Clean, clean, clean, and when you think you're done, clean some more! You'll be glad you did! Think like an NCO while you clean it and eventually it will be spotless. LOL
Also, Paint thinner (mineral spirits) will take all the grease off easily and not ruin your paint. I use it to clean everything greasy! Use old toothbrushes to get into all the tight places.

Wahoo got the money to buy parts. Will probably buy my boost controller in the next few days, I have to mail out my intake manifold first, I want to make sure that I have enough to get it mailed to Canada land.

Today I bought
-Cx Racing Radiator
-New fenders (impulse buy :) )

So today was a pretty productive day, nothing major just got the motor and transmission in. Drive shaft put back in, and slave cylinder swapped. I aslo got everything wired in except for the fuel pump. My radiator should be here on thursday.

Thank you Ben for letting me borrow your engine hoist

Now for some pictures.

So this was the work space that I was working with
Image

For some reason i just love the way a s13 with out a front end looks next to the rb
Image

I got the motor mount adapters put on pretty easily.
Image

Moved the motor towards the back of my garage smoked a cig and then got this show on the road
Image

Who needs a load balancer when you have a awesome roomate
Image

Bam motor is in and Wired up.

Over all dropping the RB in wasn't as complicated as people made it sound online. Granted I still haven't fired her up so there is still a possibility of things gone wrong.
