I have never ran a welded. Against my drift religion. Tears up tires, slide out easy while trying to grip corners on dry, easily lose control on wet, and virtually no grip on snow and ice. I have also heard alot of diffs blowing up.

Not sure about the blowing up if the welds are good.
But, vlsd is the best performance/price point.

Open = not much sliding. When the car sways one wheels drags, the higher one spins.
VLSD = when one tires spins enough the diff heats up and locks, will sometimes unlock mid drift ( mine does... )
Torsen = works by magic gears, some miatas and s15s have them.
1.5 way = locks under acceleration. doesn't lock as much on deceleration
2 way = locks on accel and decel. The most common pro drift diff.
detroit locker = locked except under tight corners ( muscle car drag stuff )
welded = always locked, chirps tires because it's not reallt a "diff" anymore, but a solid axle.

Does anyone have a 6 bolt vlsd? Or 2 way for that matter? I'm not so sure about switching my axles yet but I NEED a diff for the time being because my back left tire "bounces" and looses traction and chirps going around corners fast or slow. But only when I turn left

I troll deez forum. I read about it in your diff swap thread then boom. there is a s14 diff w/ a s13 back on craigslist right after reading the previous situation here aon kcdrift.

Oh, and for knowing sideways. He is probably going to go with a vicious differential. I am not for sure but yeah.

I'll probably completely remove rear sway.
I think a few of us lower power guys are running no rear sway.

Didn't have time to fix it when I noticed the link had finally broken, (day of event)
Been through two events now and the car does what I want it to. Spins out less, but will hold crazy angles.

I'd swap cars with you for a few runs, see what you think of my setup, and I could give an opinion on yours.

Another thing I have noticed, is changing settings event day does not help.
When I first started drifting I was going to events and cushing the dampening on my coils, and I did ok, but when I forgot to change settings one event, I started doing better, bevause I was used to the settings from daily driving.
Daily how you are going to drift, helps lots.

All personal opinion. But you have seen how I drive with a stock sohc.

After re-reading all of your posts, lawl. Just lawl.

Totally went welded, totally a bad choice. Totally.
